Hamilton playing in Sarasota

Photo/Submitted

Billy Hamilton (left) of Taylorsville is playing professional baseball the Sarasota Reds, a minor league of the Cincinnatti Reds, in Sarasota, Fla. Hamilton was taken by the Reds in Major League Baseball’s recent amature draft. He was selected 57th overall. At Taylorsville High School Hamilton won all-state honors in football, basketball and baseball and had signed with Mississippi State as a wide receiver. His cousin, Darrian Hamilton (right), a centerfielder at Taylorsville High, was drafted in the later rounds by Cincinnati and has scholarship offers to play baseball with Jones Junior College and William Carey College if Cincinnati fails to sign him by August 15. Like his cousin, he was a three-sport standout. Billy Hamiltion’s agent is Nick Crawford (standing) of Greenville.
