Former West Jones tennis player Blake Sherman is heading to the NJCAA Nationals Tennis Tournament to be held in Plano, Texas this week.

Sherman, a sophomore at Meridian Community College, won a singles championship title in the Region XXIII/MAC JUCO State Championship held in Hattiesburg at Tatum Park on April 25 and 26.

He is a two time state and region singles champion and in 2007 was a state and regional doubles champ.

This month, Sherman graduates from MCC with Highest Honors and will further his studies at Mississippi State University this Fall as a pre-med student.

A 2006 West Jones grad, where he played tennis from his seventh grade year through his senior year, he is the son of Lyn and Richard Sherman of Laurel.
