Gators hand Rebels second SEC loss

OXFORD (AP) — Florida turned a double play in the ninth inning Saturday to grab a 6-4 win over Mississippi.

Mississippi (15-7, 3-2 SEC) had two men on base and the go-ahead run at the plate.

A grounder to short from the Rebels’ Cody Overbeck was picked up by Gator shortstop Cole Figueroa, and Florida got the double play to end the game.

Florida (16-4, 4-1 SEC) evened the series at a game each. Mississippi won 5-4 Friday.

Patrick Keating (3-0) picked up the win Saturday for the Gators.

In six innings, he allowed three runs on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

Kyle Mullaney picked up his third save of the season as he worked the final 0.2 innings and closed out the game for the Gators.

The Rebels and Gators play final game of the series at noon Sunday in Oxford.
