Laurel’s U11 Girls select soccer team, the Blue Crushers, won the Gold Medal at the Hattiesburg Classic Soccer Tournament, held on March 15th and 16th, in Hattiesburg, MS.

In the first game @ 9A.M. on Saturday morning, the Laurel Blue Crushers defeated Meridian 4 to 2. In the second game at 3P.M. on Saturday afternoon, Laurel faced Mandeville, LA. Laurel got the only score of the game in a 1 to 0 victory. On Sunday morning @ 9A.M. the Blue Crushers tied Gulf Coast United 2 to 2. This ended Bracket play, and Laurel had enough points to advance to the Championship match @ 1P.M. on Sunday where they would face the Hattiesburg Strikers. Laurel defeated Hattiesburg 6 to 2, and claimed the title of 2008 U11 Girls Hattiesburg Classic Champions.

The Blue Crushers are a Girls under 11 Select soccer team that represents the Laurel Jones County Soccer Association in soccer matches against other teams throughout the southeastern United States. Their season ends the last weekend in May when they will compete for Mississippi Soccer Association’s State Cup.
