The exciting sounds of Gospel Music will ring loudly on Saturday, October 4, at the First Baptist Church in Laurel as popular Christian recording artist Janet Paschal will be featured in a special Women’s Conference event, which will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The career of Janet Paschal has been marked by many honors and accolades. With nearly a dozen recordings to her credit, Janet’s passion and vulnerability is most evident in her inspiring music, especially her latest release, Sounds Like Sunday, a collection of her favorite hymns. Her recordings have been recognized with two Grammy Award nominations and several Dove Award nominations by members of the Gospel Music Association. In addition, combined sales figures exceeding a half million have afforded her the honor of twice being named among the Top Ten Favorite Female Vocalists in Charisma Magazine’s Annual Music Poll. Additionally, she most recently received a Dove Award nomination from the Gospel Music Association for Southern Gospel Album of the Year for her Sounds Like Sunday recording, and was recently nominated for both Favorite Soloist and Favorite Female Vocalist by subscribers of The Singing News Magazine, Southern Gospel Music’s leading fan and trade publication.

Growing up in Reidsville, NC, Janet’s earliest recollections center around the church. Janet has appeared with former President George Bush, internationally known evangelist Billy Graham, as well as renown songwriters, Bill and Gloria Gaither, as a regularly featured artist on the popular Gaither Homecoming Video and Concert Tour. In fact, in May of 2007, the Gaither Gospel Series released The Best of Janet Paschal DVD/CD collection. The project includes many favorite songs made popular by Janet, which have been included on the Gaither Video Series over the past decade. Following a year of battling breast cancer in 2005, Janet resumed her touring schedule in 2006, traveling across the United States and Canada and is enjoying sharing the testimony of God’s miraculous work in her life wherever she ministers. Her 2008 schedule includes appearances in more than 50 cities and at least a half dozen countries, including Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, and Germany.

This special Women’s Conference event, featuring one of Christian music’s most recognizable voices, on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Laurel promises to be one to remember. This event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will include a day filled with music and encouragement for all who attend.
