Running on empty
By Tracy Traylor
Sometimes we think that when we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, our lives will finally be “happy” and we won’t have an empty feeling anymore. However, salvation doesn’t always equal satisfaction.
Salvation is a gift from God, but we have to stop trying to satisfy ourselves the worldly way.
We tend to try to fill our emptiness with “things” thinking they are going to satisfy us.
True satisfaction only comes when our emptiness is filled with the fullness of Christ.
We have to deliberately surrender all parts of our lives to Him trusting that God is sovereign over every detail.
We will never be fully satisfied in this world, but we can be thankful that we can have full satisfaction in Christ.
Some of us might be so disappointed that our lives aren’t going as we had planned. I would like to share a quote by Corrie Ten Boon: If we look to the world, we get distressed.
If we look to ourselves, we get depressed, but if we look to Christ, we will find rest.”
Looking to God for our satisfaction rather than anyone or anything else, is the only way that we will be filled up when we are running on empty.
