By Amy Beets, people@laurelleadercall.com
The Laurel YWCO will hold it’s 20th annual Holiday Spectacular Celebration Thursday, Nov. 12 from 9:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.
One of Laurel’s biggest and most spectacular holiday events will feature three workshops; Tablescapes and Gift Wrapping by Andrea Milham; Home for the Holidays by Anna Moss and Donna Smith; and Creative Foods by Tana Henderson.
Milham will present various ways to decorate a table for the holidays and demonstrate the art of gift wrapping.
Moss and Smith will demonstrate how to create holiday gifts and decorations including magnolia leaf ornaments, cinnamon stick crosses with Bible verses, wire angels, beaded photo frames, wreaths and swags, angels created from dried okra pods as well as many other fun holiday crafts. Items can be purchased at the event.
During the Creative Foods workshop, Henderson will demonstrate how to prepare several easy holiday foods including party snacks and side dishes. She will also show alternative holiday table settings not using traditional Christmas china but everyday dinnerware and decorations.
Guests will also get to sample recipes and receive a keepsake holiday cookbook that includes the foods demonstrated and many more favorites. Henderson, a former caterer, will give helpful tips on items to keep in stock in order to prepare quick hors d’oeuvres for unexpected guests.
She said she hopes to inspire ‘Y’ patrons to go home and decorate for the holiday season.
No reservations are required and a donation of $5 will be taken at the door.
