JCJC announces Homecoming Court 2009

Jones County Junior College announces its 2009 Homecoming Court.  Elections were held in September and students chose the following ladies to represent them during Homecoming.

Queen: Chelsea Day Windham is from Laurel majoring in public relations. At JCJC she is a member of Jones Onstage, Bobcat Brigade, the Student Government Association and the Philosophy Club.  Chelsea was also active in the West Jones High School show choir and served as Student Body Maid her senior year.  Chelsea served as Freshman Maid last year.  Her future plans include graduating from Jones County Junior College and earning a degree in public relations from Mississippi State University. After graduating from MSU, she hopes to pursue a career as a pharmaceutical sales representative.  Chelsea’s parents are Greg and Karen Parker and Thad Windham. 

 Escorting Windham will be Rahn Tew of Laurel. The biological engineering major is a member of SGA, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, The Charles Pickering Honors Institute, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society and an Engineering Society officer.  His future plans include earning a degree in biological engineering from Mississippi State University. After MSU, he plans to apply to medical school at UMC.  Rahn’s parents are Vern and Becky Tew.

Student Body Maid: Tayler Ainsworth is a sophomore speech pathology major from Taylorsville. At Jones, she is a member of the Jones Ambassadors, Bobcat Brigade, Science Club, and the Student Government Association.  Tayler also received the Letter J Award.   In high school, she was elected Taylorsville High School Homecoming Queen, Miss THS, President of the Senior Class, and graduated with highest honors. Her plans include graduating from Southern Miss and obtaining a master’s in speech pathology.  Her parents are Trenny and Stephanie Walley and Bobby and Jessica Ainsworth.

Escorting Ainsworth is Ethan Blakeney of Taylorsville.  He is majoring in public relations and is a member of Bobcat Brigade, SGA, and Jones Ambassadors. Ethan was also elected as the JCJC Freshman Class President and plans to attend MSU.  His parents are Edith and Kenny Blakeney and Jeanna and Nelson Yelverton.

Sophomore Maid: Ellisville native, Natalie Flynt is majoring in business with an emphasis in life insurance, real estate, and risk management.  Her JCJC activities and honors include being a member of Jones Onstage, the Ambassadors, Bobcat Brigade, SGA, Science Club, and PBL.  The South Jones graduate was involved in various activities including Varsity Cheerleading, Show choir, Beta Club, Student Council, Key Club President, and Future Leaders of Jones County.  After graduating from JCJC she plans to further her education at Mississippi State University majoring in Business and then working towards completing a master’s degree. Her Parents are Scott and Sandi Flynt, who teaches business office technology at JCJC.

Flynt’s escort is Ross Ferguson of Sandersville. The JCJC sophomore wildlife management major is involved in the Science Club at JCJC and volunteers at Special Olympics.  After graduating from Jones he plans to continue his education and graduate from Mississippi State University.  Ferguson’s parents are Tommy and Kim Ferguson. 

Sophomore Maid: Jillian McNeese of Laurel is majoring in nutrition and dietetics.  She is a member of the state championship tennis team, Touch of Gold dance team, Ambassadors, SGA, Bobcat Brigade and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.  Jillian was also busy at Laurel High School cheerleading, playing soccer and tennis, and was a member of the Interact Social Service Club, Principals Leadership Team, and a Mississippi Scholar and the recipient of a Leadership Award at Graduation.  Her plans include graduating from Mississippi State University and working with diabetic children. Mike and Lorrie McNeese are Jillian’s parents. 

McNeese’s escort is Alex Taylor of Laurel.  The engineering major is a member of Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, PTK, and serves as Vice President of the Engineering Society.  He plans to graduate from MSU with a degree in engineering.  Alex’s parents are Al and Stephanie Taylor.

Freshman Maid: Blair Miller is a freshman from Laurel.  She is majoring in elementary education.  At Jones, Blair is a member of the Student Government Association, College Republicans, Science Club, and is a JCJC Ambassador. In high school, Miller was involved in Beta Club, Jones County Teens Getting Involved for the Future (TGIF), Student Council, Peer Council, Best Club, Mu Alpha Theta, FCA, Bible Club, the Spanish Honor Society, and West Jones Show Choir, Imagination and was voted Miss West Jones High School. After graduating from JCJC, Blair plans on attending the University of Southern Mississippi to pursue a degree in elementary education.  Her parents are Lance and Dena Green and Paul Miller.

Miller’s escort is Kraig Simpson from Soso.  The engineering major is busy at Jones as a member of the Charles Pickering Honors Institute, the Engineering Society, the Treasurer of Phi Theta Kappa, and President of Mu Alpha Theta. Kraig’s future plans include continuing his education at Mississippi State University in order to pursue a degree in engineering. His parents are Kip and Sonya Simpson. 

Freshman Maid: Brandie White is majoring in biology with plans to become a doctor.  The Taylorsville native is a member of the yearbook staff at Jones, the Student Government Association, Bobcat Brigade and serves as secretary of Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.  Her West Jones High School activities included being a member of the Spanish Club, Teenage Republicans, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Homecoming Court and the baseball team’s stat girl.  Her future plans include attending USM and then medical school.  Brandie’s parents are Andy and Lynn White, who also teaches math at Jones.

Brandie’s escort is Garrett Moore from Soso.  The radiography major is a member of the Bobcat Baseball Team.  His plans include attending Mississippi State to play baseball and to further his education.  Garrett’s parents are Mike and Dena Moore.

The JCJC Homecoming court will also have represented as the flower girl, Reanna Scoggins, of State Line.  She goes to Sand Hill School and is the daughter of Greg and Kelly Scoggins. Conner Smith of Ellisville will serve as crown bearer for the 2009 Homecoming Court.  He attends Ellisville Elementary School and is the son of Jesse and Jennifer Smith.
