Always...Patsy Cline to hold auditions
To the Leader-Call
Yeeeeeee Haw!....you’ve asked over and over for us to do this one again and now it’s finally coming back.
Director Wess Hughes needs a large cast of talented singers for “ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE”, our final show of this season. This is our third production of this crowd favorite and in our 47 year history, it’s the LLT all-time record holder for the most performances and our largest audiences ever.
Missy Sanderson and Catherine Nowicki are repeating their performances as Patsy Cline and her crazy sidekick Louise, but the rest of the cast is open. The cast features both a male and female quartet as well as a full size chorus. Hughes needs as many as 50 adults to come along and sing and dance in the Texas pool hall where the show takes place.
Before the show each night, the cast also be entertaining the audiences with a Grand Ol’ Opry style talent show featuring some of the great singers and pickers and dancers from the Jones County area. Anyone with a great country or bluegrass or old southern gospel act should come on down to the auditions.
Auditions will be held Friday and Monday, at the Arabian at 7pm.
What kind of talent you got? Play a banjo or a fiddle? Or a Jew’s harp? Can you yodel or clog? Got a mama and grandma to sing in a trio with you? Sing with a gospel quartet? We want a large variety of acts for this and any age works fine. Make sure to tell anyone you run across that has a great act. We’ll also be lookin’ for someone that can make a good Minnie Pearl and Grandpa to host that talent show.
There are no kids in the main show, but we’ll be using some of them in the pre-show talent hour, so they’re welcome to come down and audition for that. High school age can be in the main show with the adults as well as the talent show.
For auditions you can bring a prepared piece if you got it, but it’s not necessary. You can just come down and sing ‘Happy Birthday’ or the National Anthem or ‘Amazing Grace.’ Doesn’t matter at all-just sing any ol’ thing you know to audition for the main show. But for the talent show, we’re looking to hear prepared pieces.
Production runs April 11-13, 18,19.
