Student behavior workshop scheduled

To the editor:

Does a parent know what to do when a public school continues to send a child home several times during a school year?

Does a parent know his/her rights before a public school sends a child to an alternative school?

Why are there so many youth court cases of student behavior?

Is the behavioral intervention plan implemented under the No Child Left Behind Law?”

During the first five years, does a parent continue to state to a public school, “Something is wrong, my child is not just bad”?

Are parents or school officials accountable?

Does this type of behavior in a school setting have anything to do with the high school drop-out rates?

These are some questions asked. There will be an In-Service Workshop (Disruptive Behavioral in School) on Sept. 11, at the United Way Building on Oak Street in Laurel from 6- 8 p.m. For more information, call Barbara Barnett at 601-649-6314 or Betty Busbea at 601-425-2883). The representative will be Hollia Thompson from ARC/MS. All are welcome.
