Ollie Pitts
Ollie Pitts, 97, of Laurel, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Comfort Care in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 20, at Memory Chapel with burial to follow in Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Pitts was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Masonite with more than 30 years of service. He was a master mason lodge #414. The Rev. Bud Dixon and Dr. Randy Turner will be officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Pitts, three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Terry Pitts and his wife Jane Pitts of Laurel and Tim Pitts and wife Paulette Pitts of Laurel; grandchildren, Carmen Pitts, Terra Pitts, Taryn Pitts and Tonya Campbell and her husband Carl Campbell, Tim N. Pitts; two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Campbell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bernamonti, Tony Bernamonti, Timmy Pitts, Richard Baker, Thomas Pitts and Glenn Pitts.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening at Memory Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
Walter Williams, Jr.
Walter Williams, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Chicago, Ill., passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nev. with viewing from 12 noon - 1 p.m. and services from 1-2 p.m. Burial will follow at Palm Cemetery.
He was born and grew up in Laurel. The son of Walter Williams, Sr. and Ella Williams, he attended Oak Park High School class of 1967. He resided in Chicago, Ill., where he worked at the U.S. Steel Company for many years. Later he pursued a career in the security industry where he worked as a security consultant at Ontario Place of Chicago.
