William D. Everett
William “Billy” Everett, 74, of Morton, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Crossroads Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Everett was born on June 9, 1934 in the Crossroads community to the late William Clyde and Mattie Faye Everett. He lived in Morton for the past 30 years. Mr. Everett developed many friendships during his life. Before moving to Morton, he lived in Forest where he worked 16 years as a bookkeeper with Lee-Gray Chevrolet. Before retirement in 2001, Mr. Everett owned and operated the Everett & Sons Grocery Store for 17 years. Mr. Everett loved spending time with his family, and especially his children. Gardening and walking were two things that he also loved to do. Mr. Everett served his country in the U.S. Army from January 22, 1957 – January 21, 1959.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Everett; sons, William H. “Bill” Everett of Laurel and Kevin J. Everett (Anne) of Morton; brother, Gary Everett (Linnie) of Crossroads Community; grandchildren, William H.H. and Hannah E. Everett of Morton; along with a host of friends.
Visitation will be today from 5 until 8 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, which is in charge of the arrangements.
Darron D. Hayes
Darron D. Hayes, 36, of Heidelberg, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 1, 2008, at Beaver Meadow Baptist Church, with burial in Beaver Meadow Cemetery in Heidelberg. The Rev. Clarence Heidelberg will officiate.
He attended Beaver Meadow Baptist Church in Heidelberg.
He is survived by his father, Henry Hayes; mother, Bobbie (McGill) Hayes both of Paulding; a son, Dalrin Dewayne Hayes of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Kimberly Hayes of Heidelberg and Elizabeth Hayes of Paulding.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. today at Beaver Meadow Baptist Church in Heidelberg.

Jessie J. Jones
Jessie J. Jones, 88, of Moselle, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Moselle, with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Revs. David Aultman and Tommy Mangum will officiate.
A nurses’ aide, she was a member of Eastabuchie Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Jones; son, Jesse “Butch” Jones; infant daughter, Janet Jones; and parents, Wiley Thomas Jones and Ida Isabella Roberts Jones.
She is survived by two daughters, Lolette Finch of Monticello and Peggy Epley of Moselle; three sons, John “Tom” Jones of Lumberton, Jerome “Jay” Jones and Lanny Jones both of Moselle; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. today at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Moselle, which is in charge of arrangements.
Tammy R. Smith
Tammy R. Smith, 43, of Ellisville, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Jones Funeral Home in Ellisville, with burial in Shelton Cemetery. The Revs. David Allen and Tim Knight will officiate.
She was a retail salesperson with Steinmart and was a member of West Ellisville Baptist Church. She loved her birds, Tipper, Julie and Bo Diddley.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rev. Arb and Inez Knight; paternal grandparents, Howard and Dovie Smith.
She is survived by her parents, Tommy and Linda Smith of Ellisville; a sister, Teresa L. Smith of Ocean Springs.
The family request memorials be made to West Ellisville Baptist Church Building Fund.
Pallbearers will be deacons of West Ellisville Baptist Church: Roland Sanford, Larry Brewer, David Howard, Frank Williams, Tommy Valentine and James Parker.

Herbert Eugene Trammell
Herbert Eugene Trammell, 80, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., died Sunday, March 30, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was at home and was surrounded by his wife and four children at the time of his death.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. A reception to celebrate his life will be held immediately following the service.
Herbert was born in 1927 in Laurel.
After serving in the US Navy from 1945-46, he graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Master’s degree in Physics in 1949.
He joined Union Carbide in 1949 and spent his early and mid career in research and development to improve the efficiency of uranium enrichment plants in the United States. From 1969-1977 he served as Director of the Gaseous Diffusion Development Division at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant and concurrently as Manager of the Advanced Isotope Separation Program. In 1977, he became Director of the Engineering Technology Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he was responsible for programs in advanced reactor technology development.
He retired in 1989 after 40 years of service.
During his life in Oak Ridge, Herbert served in leadership positions with the First United Methodist Church, the Parent-Teacher Association, the Emory Valley School for Retarded Children, and the Oak Ridge Rotary Club. In his 20 years of retirement, he enjoyed music, sports, and gardening at his home in Key West, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Evie Louisa and Homer Lee Trammell; his brother, Homer Conrad Trammell; and his niece Kathy Armstrong Bertram.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Walker Trammell; daughter, Carmen Trammell & husband Tom Swain of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Bert Trammell of Port St. Lucie, Fl.; daughter, Lisa Trammell Thomas & husband Buzz Thomas of Maryville, Tenn.; son, Brian Trammell & wife Zayna Trammell of Knoxville; sister, Orpal Armstrong & husband Cleston Armstrong of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister-in-law, Gail Trammell of Kokomo, Ind.; grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Thomas, and Andrew, Alex, Rebecca, and Charlie Trammell; and nephews Lee and Terry Armstrong.
Herbert was a devoted son, husband, and father, and was deeply admired and loved by his family. The family will commit his ashes in a private gathering at the Memorial Garden at First United Methodist Church.
