Obituaries for Tuesday, April 1, 2008



William D. Everett

William “Billy” Everett, 74, of Morton, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Crossroads Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Everett was born on June 9, 1934 in the Crossroads community to the late William Clyde and Mattie Faye Everett. He lived in Morton for the past 30 years. Mr. Everett developed many friendships during his life. Before moving to Morton, he lived in Forest where he worked 16 years as a bookkeeper with Lee-Gray Chevrolet. Before retirement in 2001, Mr. Everett owned and operated the Everett & Sons Grocery Store for 17 years. Mr. Everett loved spending time with his family, and especially his children. Gardening and walking were two things that he also loved to do. Mr. Everett served his country in the U.S. Army from January 22, 1957 – January 21, 1959.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Everett; sons, William H. “Bill” Everett of Laurel and Kevin J. Everett (Anne) of Morton; brother, Gary Everett (Linnie) of Crossroads Community; grandchildren, William H.H. and Hannah E. Everett of Morton; along with a host of friends.

Visitation will be today from 5 until 8 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Darron D. Hayes

Darron D. Hayes, 36, of Heidelberg, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 1, 2008, at Beaver Meadow Baptist Church, with burial in Beaver Meadow Cemetery in Heidelberg. The Rev. Clarence Heidelberg will officiate.

He attended Beaver Meadow Baptist Church in Heidelberg.

He is survived by his father, Henry Hayes; mother, Bobbie (McGill) Hayes both of Paulding; a son, Dalrin Dewayne Hayes of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Kimberly Hayes of Heidelberg and Elizabeth Hayes of Paulding.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. today at Beaver Meadow Baptist Church in Heidelberg.

Bay Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
