Annie Ruth Gavin
Annie Ruth Gavin, 63, of Heidelberg, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. H. C. Hicks will officiate.
A member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, she was employed with Wayne Farms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Annie Mae McCormick; a son, Clyde Gavin; brothers, W. D. Harrison, Eddie Stewart and Thomas McCormick.
She is survived by her husband, David Gavin, Sr.; sons, David Gavin, Jr., Curtis Williams and Micheal Williams all of Heidelberg; daughters, Rose M. Gavin Sheffer of Leesville, La., Janice and Darryl Morgan and Crystal Williams both of Heidelberg; brothers, Garfield McCormick, Jr., of Boston, Mass., Ronald McCormick, Johnnie C. Williams, Milton Williams and John E. Williams all of Heidelberg and Ike and Brenda McCormick of Pachuta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie and Sam McMickle of LaPlace, La., Gertrude and Dewitt Reed and Delicia Henderson both of Heidelberg, Lollie Moore of Steveson Ranch, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
Chapel of Angels Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
Donald R. Jones
Donald R. Jones, 51, of Laurel, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Chapel of Angels with the Rev. Joe L. Cooley officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olive cemetery.
Mr. Jones was employed as a coil-winder at Howard Industries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Willie Velma McCall Harrison.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Jones of Laurel; daughter, Alexis Jones of Laurel; brothers, Harlem Jones of Jackson, Albert Jones of Laurel, Harold Jones of Ocean Springs, and John W. Harrison of Laurel; sisters, Kara Harrison of Oakland, Calif., Janet Harrison of Evanston, Ill., Kendra Jones of Laurel; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at Chapel of Angels, which is in charge of the arrangements.
Annie Lou Walters
Annie Lou Walters, 83, of Laurel, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Congregational Methodist Church in Jones County with the Revs. Jimmy Holder and Bill Myers officiating. Burial will be in Mill Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Walters was retired from Reliance Manufacturing and was a member of Mill Creek Congregational Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Curtis Walters; nephew, Michael Thornton, and her parents, George L. Rogers and Lelia Walters.
Survivors include four sisters, Iva Lee Byrd of Sandersville, Hazel Thornton and husband, Jack of Laurel, Loretta Bustin and husband, Grady of Laurel and Carolyn Rogers of Laurel; brother, William Earl Rogers and wife, Bobbie Nell of Laurel; and a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gary Thornton, Jody Thornton, Alton Mills, Ronald Bustin, Ricky Walters and Ken Keyes.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
