Obituaries for Friday, March 28, 2008

Visitation will be from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday at Second Allen AMC Church. Malone Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Faye Baggett Patton

With family at her beside, Faye Baggett Patton, mother of Lynda Patton Posey of Laurel, passed away this past Tuesday evening at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital in Shreveport. A Wichita Falls, Texas native and a Shreveport resident for over 40 years, Mrs. Patton was a devout Christian who loved her family, faith and friends dearly. She was an active member of The Daughters of Penelope and The Potpourri Club. An avid bridge player, she found her true joy and happiness in her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Shreveport located on: 1719 Creswell Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. After the visitation, the Reverend Father Brendan Pelphrey will celebrate the Rite of Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Church.

Mrs. Patton was predeceased in death by: Glenn Murray Patton, her husband for 53 years; her parents, Jesse Thomas Baggett and Sarah Josephine Baggett; her sister Lois Elizabeth Higgins; her brother Marvin Lee Baggett; and her son, Timothy Glenn Patton.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Patton Posey, and her husband Chris of Laurel; her son, James Murray Patton and his wife, Catherine, of Shreveport, La.; her daughter-in-law, Angela Burge Patton of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren, James Todd Patton of Houston, Texas; Scott Robinson Patton of Baton Rouge, La.; Preston Murray Patton of New York, N. Y.; Samantha Patton Constant of Austin, Texas; Parker Christian Posey of New York, N. Y.; Christopher Glenn Posey of Laurel; and her great-grandchildren, Rowan Glenn Constant of Austin, Texas, and Isabella Parker Posey, Jack Curry Posey, and Christopher Van Posey II, of Laurel.

Mrs. Patton’s before mentioned grandsons will be pallbearers, along with Ardis Robison.

In loving memory of their mother and grandmother, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made either to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1719 Creswell Street, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101 or to Feed the Children, Box 9, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.

The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to friends who have offered their prayers and sympathy.

Eunice McNeil Phillips

Eunice McNeil Phillips, 96, of Louin, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in Jasper County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Antioch Baptist Church in Louin, with burial in Antioch Cemetery in Louin.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Louin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Ellen McNeil; her husband of 63 years, James Otho Phillips; a son, James Earl Phillips; four brothers, Edwin (Buddy) McNeil, George McNeil, Louie McNeil and Lewis McNeil; and a sister, Fannie Vermel Phillips.
