Malcolm “Mike” Garner

Malcolm “Mike” Garner, 47, of Moselle, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Jones & Son Funeral Home of Moselle with burial in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Billy Wayne Patterson will be officiating.

Mr. Garner worked in construction as a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Garner; sons, M. J. Garner and Eric Garner, both of Hattiesburg; daughters, Erica Norton of Ovett and Marlena McDaniel of Moselle; step-daughters, Dawn Mizell and Miranda Miller, both of Moselle; step-son, Patrick Mizell of Moselle; mother, Lois Cromwell of Runnelstown; brothers, Raymond Rodgers of Philidelphia and Ray Powell of Moselle; sisters, Debbie Pritchett of Alabama, Sarah Ann Montague of Runnelstown, Rebecca Anderson of Iowa, and Shanna Carter of Ellisville; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 until 9 p.m. this evening at Jones & Son Funeral Home of Moselle.

Thomas N. Hinton

Thomas N. Hinton, 82, of Soso, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Perry County Nursing Home in Richton.

Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel with burial will be in Union Line Cemetery in Jones County. The Rev. Chris Hinton will officiate.

He was retired from the insurance business and a member of First Baptist Church of Soso. He was a Mason and Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Josh and Jakie Hinton; brothers, J. C. Hinton, Roy Hinton, Ance Hinton, Herman Hinton, B. F. Hinton and C. H. (Red) Hinton; sisters, Ruth Garrett, Narine Moore and Geneva Delcombre.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca H. and Jake Spencer of Laurel and Debbie H. and Greg Ewen of Fairfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa and Josh Thrash, Adam T. Ward, and Ben L. Ward; great-grandchildren, Abbie and Audrey Thrash, and Madison L. Ward; one brother, Jessie Hinton of Soso.

Pallbearers will be Adam Ward. Ben Ward, Josh Thrash, Kyle Warren, Josh Hinton, Neal Hinton and Dr. Ned Hinton.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
