Janice Holsinger Blackledge
Janice Holsinger Blackledge, 57, of Louin, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Memory Chapel with burial to follow in Palestine Cemetery in Jasper County.
Mrs. Blackledge was born to Edgar and Rosemary Holsinger in Celna, Ohio, on April 4, 1950. She loved her nieces and nephews as her own children. She enjoyed her flower gardens, sewing and was a wonderful cook. Janice worked at Lazy Boy for more than 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Rosemary (Cotterman) Holsinger; brother, Edgar Holsinger; adopted sister, Shelly Slone; nieces, nephews, and one great-niece.
Survivors include her husband, G. W. Blackledge of Louin; brothers, John (Theresa) Holsinger of St. Marys, Ohio and Rick (Kay) Holsinger of Meridian; sisters, Roxy (Dick) Wagner and Ginger (Jack) Figel of Ocala,
Fla., Candy Grilliot of Mustang, Okla., Brenda (Andy) Fishbach of Sidney, Ohio, Jodie (John) Ball and Marcia (Tony) Taylor of St Marys, Ohio, Sarah (Doug) Eckstein of Mechanicburg, Ohio; sisters-in-laws, Joy Holsinger of Ogden, Utah, Cindy Blackledge of Louin; brother-in-law, Paul (Edith) Blackledge of Louin; 56 nieces and nephews and 89 great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Junior Shedd, Eli Holsinger, Matthew Blackledge, Christie Blackledge, Beverly Blackledge, Wayne Carey, James Jones and Kenny Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel, which is in charge of services.
Bernard F. Duffy Jr.
Bernard F. Duffy Jr., 77, of Laurel, died Sunday, March 16, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Memory Chapel with burial to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The Rev. David Slaughter will officiate.
Mr. Duffy was retired from Carter/Well’s Drug store after more than 30 years of delivering medicine to the citizens of Laurel. He was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church where he was a member of United Methodist Men and the ESP group. He also attended the former Justice Heights United Methodist Church where he was on numerous boards, sang in the choir, served as president and cook of United Methodist Men, and taught Sunday School. Mr. Duffy’s favorite pastime was viewing local baseball and football events. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard F. Duffy Sr. and Gertrude Duffy.
