Wayne County continues to lead the Laurel Leader-Call Super 8 high school football poll.
The War Eagles (6-0) are also the top-ranked Class 4A team in the Clarion-Ledger state-wide poll and are expected to continue to lead the Miss. Associated Press 4A state-wide rankings that will be released later today.
Wayne County will get a stiff test from Region 5-4A foe Northeast Jones. The No. 7 Tigers (4-2) are coming off a big win at West Jones, handing the Mustangs their first loss of the year that knocked them down to No. 3 in the Super 8 poll.
Taylorsville, the No. 1 team in the 2A state-wide polls, moved up to No. 2, while Bay Springs (5-1) and Sylva-Bay Academy (6-1) both moved up one spot each to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
South Jones (4-2), who lost for the second straight week, slipped from No. 4 to No. 6 after losing to unbeaten Quitman (6-0), who cracks the Super 8 as the eight-ranked team.
The Super 8 poll is compiled by the LL-C sports staff.
