Upset win at the LPGA State Farm Classic
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Second-year LPGA golfer Ji Young Oh won her first tournament, sinking a 6-inch putt for par to win the State Farm Classic in a playoff over rookie Yani Tseng.
A day after the tournament lost its marquee player, Michelle Wie, to disqualification for failing to sign her card, the sudden-death playoff injected life into what had been an ordinary final round.

Brown ruled eligible at USM
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Top recruit DeAndre Brown has been ruled eligible by the NCAA to play for Southern Miss this fall. Associate athletic director Jason Gray says Sunday that Brown has met eligibility requirements after taking a pair of classes online through Brigham Young University.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound wide receiver from Ocean Springs was among the top recruits available last year. He spurned LSU and other top programs to join first-year coach Larry Fedora’s wide-open offense.

Schleck takes yellow jersey in mountains
PRATO NEVOSO, Italy (AP) — Frank Schleck of Luxembourg seized the overall lead in the Tour de France on Sunday, drawing on his strength in the mountains and getting an assist from his brother as the three-week race headed into the Italian Alps.
