Photo/Steve Sanders

Willie Rogers, his daughter, Treasure Pollock, who is pictured with her two daughters, moved into a new home on Ferrell Street Tuesday. The new four-bedroom, two bath house was built under the direction of the Laurel Housing and Development Department. With the help of the city, Rogers was able to able to secure a low-income loan from the USDA’s Rural Development Direct 502 Program. Mary Edmondson, director of the city program, said three homes have been built under the program, which has also helped four people buy houses outright. Construction begins on three more houses next week. Mayor Melvin Mack is shown presenting the keys to the house to Pollock. Also pictured is Willie Evans, Ward One council member.
