NEW - Dixie Electric restores electricity after T.S. Ida

From staff reports

Dixie Electric Power Association crews are working in Wayne County to restore electricity to nearly 2,000 accounts. The scattered outages are due to winds and falling trees caused by Tropical Storm Ida.

In addition, Dixie Electric members in Forrest and Perry counties experienced outages. Less than 900 accounts were out of electric service during the night for approximately an hour. There were a few scattered outages in Jones County; those were restored during the night as well.

Dixie Electric Power Association serves 38,000 accounts in a seven county area in south Mississippi, including Jones, Wayne, Perry, Forrest, Covington, Clarke and Jasper counties.
