The murder trial of Andre Jones of Laurel was scheduled to begin Thursday morning in Jones County Circuit Court in Laurel. Jones is accused of the July 2007 stabbing death Eric Rogers, 24, of Heidelberg.

Laurel police said Jones stabbed Rogers several times at 937 Sunflower Dr. following an altercation earlier in the day. Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones has been held in the Jones County Adult Detention Center on a $500,000 bond since his arrest.

Circuit Judge Billy Joe Landrum is scheduled to preside over the trial.
