NEW - 1 of 2 escapees back behind bars

By David Owens, newseditor@laurelleadercall.com

One of the two inmates who escaped Friday from the Jones County Adult Detention Facility in Ellisville is back behind bars.

Claude Johnson, 33, of Laurel, was captured in the 4000 block of Indian Springs Road shortly after 8 a.m. Monday after attempting to flee from the residence.

Previously serving time for commercial burglary, Johnson will now face additional charges of residential burglary and escape.

Johnson and Ira Hadley, Jr., 17, of Laurel, escaped from prison Friday afternoon from the recreational area after jumping the fence, deputies said.

Hadley, a black male who’s described as 5-foot-5 and 100 pounds, was still on the loose as of press time.
