The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a sexual assault reported Friday morning on Reedy Creek Road involving a 45-year-old white female.

According to deputies, a Hispanic male is described as the alleged suspect, but there is no reason to believe that this is the same subject involved in previous sexual assaults in Jones County.

Shuanita Weathersby, executive assistant/public relations for the JCSD, said officers are reporting this incident “just like any other.”

“We’re investigating this like any normal report of an assault,” she said. “There’s no other information to lead us to believe that it’s connected to the previous assaults on elderly women.”

In a press release, Major Robbie Suber added that, “there is no physical evidence to support that the crime occurred. However, this investigation is still ongoing.”
