A Laurel firefighter connects a hose to assist other firefighters in extinguishing a fire at South Central Regional Medical Center Wednesday evening just after 6 p.m. Although smoke could be seen across the Jefferson Street campus, Laurel Battalion Chief David Chancellor said the fire was contained to a dryer in the laundry department. Calling the incident “a lot of smoke, but little fire,” Chancellor said there were no evacuations and no injuries.
