Sheriff’s looking for stolen antiques

Local law enforcement officials are looking for a thief who took off with some antique furniture from a home in Ellisville.
Wilbur Chamberlin, coordinator of Jones County Crimestoppers, called the burglary “real strange.”
“There have been several burglaries in Jones County over the past several weeks,” he said. “Most burglaries have included the normal things like guns, jewelry and cash. But, in this case, they stole two mirrors and an antique clock. That was it. They’re real identifiable pieces because they’re antiques.”
Chamberlin said at first he thought the crime was personal, that the burglar knew what he wanted.
“It did in a way to me,” he said. “But, after talking with the Sheriff’s Department and hearing about all of the different burglaries occurring, I believe they just happened to see what was there and took it.”
Chamberlin said anyone with information is asked to call Jones County Crimestoppers at 601-428-STOP (7867).
“We hope someone may have seen them, or has an idea who has them,” he said. “We never ask for anyone’s name, just their information. We are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest.”
