Over 1,500 ‘angels’ registred on Salvation Army’s Angel Tree

From staff reports

The Salvation Army has registered over 1,500 angels in Jones County and the other five counties it represents for its annual Christmas Assistance Program.

However, those in Jones, Jasper, Wayne, Clark, Smith and Simpson counties who missed the recent sign-up period can still register. The Salvation Army has scheduled a make-up day for 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the Magee Civic Center.

In a press release, Capt. Stephanie Mockabee, who organizes the Angel Tree Program, said all individuals, groups, churches and business are asked to adopt from the Angel Tree beginning Nov. 20 at the Sawmill Square Mall.

Those not close to the mall can all the administrative office, located at 205 N. 13th Ave., at 601-428-5485, to find out the nearest location to pick up angels.

For more information, contact the Salvation Army at 601-428-4232.
