Saint John's blesses local animals

In conjunction with the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, Saint John’s Episcopal Church hosted its annual event to raise funds for Laurel’s Animal Rescue League.

The Blessing of Animals and Pets was held Saturday morning on the church’s lawn. Dozens of pet owners and their pets participated in the blessing ceremony, which was conducted by Father John Reich.

“This event is the single largest food drive that is held for us,” said Animal Rescue League Director Denise Bozeman. “It is special to be able to come here and have our animals and organization blessed. Truly our organization is run by miracles and blessings.”

Both Bozeman and ARL President Cindy Pittman expressed their appreciation for the organizers of the event, and their gratitude for those who made donations.
