West Jones High School held its 28th annual West Jones Marching Classic Saturday at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field in Ellisville.

Fifteen bands participated in the event, held from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Bands participating were Mize, Richton, North Forrest, Newton, Purvis, Southeast Lauderdale, Magee, Northeast Jones, Florence, West Jones, Bay High, South Jones, Pearl, Hattiesburg, Meridian and Murrah. The Jones County Junior College Maroon Typhoon marching band capped the event with a special performance.

The event was started 28 years ago by Gary Meador, West Jones High School band director, and David Young, director of the JCJC band.
