Investigators with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office escort Rodney Dye, 34, of Smith County Road 70, to a Justice Court hearing Thursday afternoon. Dye was arrested for attempting to to persuade a 14-year-old into sexual activity. Investigators Mike Sumrall and Don Scott arrested Dye Thursday and charged him the exploitation of a child and sexual battery. According to Mjr. Robbie Suber, Dye is alleged to have sent text messages to the juvenile “in an attempt to lure the child with sexual activity.”
