After some confusion last week, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (D-Miss.) has been confirmed for the Jones Co. Republican Women membership tea Thursday afternoon at Lee’s Coffee and Tea, 409 W. Oak St.

Jordan Stoick, communications director for Sen. Wicker, said the Pontotoc native is scheduled to arrive around 4:45 p.m.

Wicker’s Thursday schedule also includes a keynote speech at the Forrest County Republican Appreciation Dinner in Petal. Stoick said there was some miscommunication between the senator’s Washington, D.C., and Mississippi offices, but everything has been figured out.

“He will be giving (the Republican Women) an update on issues before Congress,” Stoick said. “Obviously, health care is a big topic right now. He’ll probably also be talking about energy, and the need to increase the use of our domestic energy sources.”
