Ovett man arrested for forgery

From Jones Co. Sheriff’s Department

An Ovett man was arrested and charged with forgery Tuesday by Jones County Sheriff’s Investigators.

Sheriff Alex Hodge identified the suspect as Aaron Landrum, 34, of the 100 block of Upper Ovett Road.

It is believed that Landrum forged withdrawal forms on an unidentified victim receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from a local banking institution during the dates of Aug. 1-15, Hodge said.

“It is important for people to become familiar with those who have access to their personal information,” said Hodge. “My advice is for people to remember that their personal information is one of the most important things that thieves need to open a line of credit or bank account, therefore every precaution should be taken to protect their identity. If personal information is stolen, identity thieves may possibly ruin your credit or drain your bank account.”

Landrum was charged with forgery and remains in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility.
