A Jones County juvenile is charged as an adult in connection with sexual contact with a 6-year-old child. Sheriff Alex Hodge identified the juvenile as Thomas Kitchens, 17, of the 100 block of Lyon Ranch Road, south of Ellisville.

Hodge said Kitchens was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual battery. “During the course of investigation, probable cause was developed to bring charges against Kitchens,” Hodge said. “The incident allegedly occurred on Lyon Ranch Road outside of Ellisville.”

Kitchens was being held in the Jones County Adult Detention Center Thursday awaiting a bond hearing.

Vossburg man arrested

A Vossburg man is in jail on marijuana possession and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The man, identified by Hodge as Darron L. Bonner, 24, of Vossburg, was being held in the Jones County Adult Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

According to Hodge, Lt. Scott Paxson stopped a vehicle driven by Bonner on Jefferson Street in Laurel Tuesday around 10 p.m. “A misdemeanor amount of marijuana residue and a marijuana odor was observed and smelled by Lt. Paxson,” Hodge said. The sheriff said Paxson recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the vehicle.

Bonner is charged with misdemeanor of possession and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Trailer theft arrest made

An Ellisville man is charged with grand larceny in connection with the recent theft of a utility trailer.

The sheriff’s office received a report on July 8 of the theft of an 18-foot utility trailer at 1037 Highway 15 South. The trailer was later found and recovered on Howze Road in Ellisville.

Investigators arrested Ellis Ishee, 37, of the 300 block of Mack Brown Road in Ellisville Wednesday. He was being held in the adult detention center Thursday.
