Deputies make meth, marijuana arrests

From staff reports

Deputies arrested a man at the former New Laurel Motel Monday morning and seized precursor chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge said the sheriff’s office received a tip concerning the manufacture of methamphetamine in Room 110 of the motel. He said narcotics agents discovered a duffel bag containing the chemicals in the room occupied by John Monk, 19, of the 3,000 block of Indian Springs Road.

He is charged with possession of two or more precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Monk was being held in the Jones County Adult Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Jones County man arrested for pot possession

Deputies arrested a Jones County man Friday at 10 p. m. and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm. Sheriff Alex Hodge identified the man as James Casey Rose, 23, of the 1500 block of Ellisville-Tucker’s Crossing Road.

The sheriff said deputies executed a search warrant at the residence after information was received about illegal drug activity. Hodge said deputies seized approximately one pound of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia, an undisclosed amount of money and a semi-automatic handgun.

Rose is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.
