The City of Laurel is working to better serve its residents and their needs.
Wanda Benson with the city’s Public Relations Department said the City of Laurel’s Action Center is designed to assist residents in contacting the appropriate city offices for their concerns.
“The Action Center has several lines depending on your problem,” Benson said. “We just want to make sure people know who to call when they need help.”
City officials said residents are encouraged to call (601) 428-6410 with any general questions about city services.
However, for special problems concerning water leaks and broken lines, garbage, street maintenance and flooding or inspection matters, those concerns should be directed to specific numbers.
Benson said for problems with water leaks, broken lines or to report problems related to water, residents can call (601) 428-6407. After hours, on weekends, or in case of an emergency, persons can call (601) 428-6464.
Residents needing assistance concerning garbage, trash and rubbish collection, street maintenance, drainage maintenance, sidewalk problems, storm drainage problems or street flooding issues can call (601) 428-6455.
Benson said those with problems concerning abandoned vehicles, building permits, code violations, building, electrical, plumbing, gas inspections, lot cleaning and sign violations can call (601) 428-6438.
Officials said the goal is to allow residents to contact the appropriate offices so that their concerns can be met in a timely manner.
