Local feline spay and neuter event planned

To the Leader-Call

The Big Fix Rig is coming to south central Mississippi. It was developed by Humane Alliance (humanealliance.org) with help from other sponsors such as the ASPCA and the Humane Society of America.

The 53-foot rig is only set up to alter cats, but while in the area participants may go by the rig and pick up vouchers to help defray the cost of neutering/spaying their dog at a participating veterinary clinic in this area.

The spaying and neutering will be offered May 30-June 2, in the Life Church parking lot (Highway 84 West across from the Sportsplex.

Dropoff times will be 7:30-8:30 a.m., with pickup from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Donations of $5 are encouraged for neuters and $10 for spays. Rabies vaccinations will be offered for $5.

People who are unable to afford all or some of the donation should not let that prevent them from bringing cats in.

Any kitten or cat weighing two pounds or more can be altered. Feral cats will also be accepted. If cats are pregnant or in heat, the person making the appointment needs to inform the volunteer handling the schedule.

If your pet is sick please come by and pick up a voucher.

Appointments are very important. Call the Cats In Need Society at 601-344-0206 or 601-649-6701 to schedule an appointment.
