(UPDATE) Child expelled for bringing gun to school

AMORY, Miss. (AP) — An 11-year-old student has been expelled for one year for bringing a gun to East Amory Elementary School.
The Amory School Board acted Monday after the student's arrest at school last Wednesday.
Police said the 9-mm handgun was loaded.
The case is being handled by the Monroe County Youth Court.
