Law enforcement officials are searching for a suspect involved in a Wednesday night shooting.

Investigator Kevin Flynn with the Laurel Police Department said a shooting into a dwelling on Lee Street was reported Wednesday night.

Flynn said officials are searching for a black male in his early 20’s with a nickname of “Head” in connection with a shooting into a residence.

Investigators said the incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when LPD Lt. Shane Valentine and Officer Mark White responded to the 1700 block of Lee Street in reference to a shooting into a dwelling.

“A bullet struck the residence and the bullet went through the front wall and embedded in the headboard of a bed,” Flynn said. “It was learned later today (Thursday) that a vehicle had been shot at and struck twice.”

Flynn said after some investigation, it was determined that the shooter was firing at the vehicle, which was traveling down Lee Street when one of the bullets missed the vehicle and struck the residence.

Officials said that no injuries were reported from the house or the vehicle.

Flynn said police are continuing to gather information concerning the incident.

Police are also asking for the public’s help in solving this crime.

“We are asking anyone with information to contact us,” Flynn said. “We will follow any leads that we get.”

The investigator said the suspect is believed to wear his hair in braids/corn rolls.

Flynn said the incident is believed to have been the result of an earlier altercation in that area.
