A Laurel woman is in jail in connection with the theft of a pickup truck and fleeing from deputies.
Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge said deputies received a call Monday around 7:30 p.m. concerning a Ford F-250 which had been stolen from a residence. Deputies later spotted the vehicle on Highway 184 East but the driver accelerated and attempted to avoid being stopped, Hodge said.
The driver was forced to stop when reaching 16th Avenue due to a high volume of traffic, according to the sheriff. He said deputies discovered an undisclosed amount of a controlled substance in the driver’s possession.
Arrested was Alanna L. Henry, 25, of the 900 block of Poole Creek Road. She is charged with grand larceny, felony fleeing in a motor vehicle and possession of controlled substance. She was being held in the Jones County Adult Detention Center. The truck was returned to its owner.
