A one-vehicle crash on Luther Hill Road Wednesday resulted in one man receiving minor injuries.
A man driving a vehicle with a Lawrence County tag was involved in a Wednesday afternoon accident.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Glade Volunteer Fire Department and Powers Volunteer Fire Department responded immediately to the scene.
Roland Mozingo, fire chief of the Glade Volunteer Fire Department, said the accident was reported about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on Luther Hill Road off Doncurt Road.
“The driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle,” Mozingo said. “EmServ responded to the scene, but the injured driver refused transportation from the scene by ambulance.”
Mozingo said the vehicle received major damage from the crash.
Officials said the site of the accident, which occurred in a curve on Luther Hill Road, has been the spot of numerous vehicle accidents.
“This section of road has been the site of several wrecks,” Mozingo said. “The road was wet and it’s always slippery up in here, especially around this curve.”
Jones County fire coordinator Dan McKenna confirmed in a previous interview that rescuers have responded to numerous accidents within about a half of a mile stretch of Luther Hill Road.
“As soon as the road gets a little moisture, it becomes slick,” McKenna said.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
