Hodge asks for support in general election for sheriff

To the Leader-Call

First, I, Alex Hodge, want to thank the people of Jones County for the support that was given to me in the August Democratic Run-off election.

I was so proud of the hard work put in by so many people to help us win this tough fought campaign in the Democratic Primary. Today, I want to write you, the great people of Jones County, from my heart.

I am certainly grateful for the opportunity God has given me to possibly become the next Sheriff of Jones County.

All my life I have dreamed of being a law enforcement officer. In 1987, I started my career as an active duty member of the United States Air Force.

I trained as a Security Policeman stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. I had many experiences, to include training as a Military Police Investigator and being selected as non-commissioned officer in charge of Security Police Investigations.

After an honorable discharge in 1993, I joined the Active Air Force Reserve. During this time I was chosen as the USAF IMA Reservist of the year.

In 1994, I was selected to attend class 49 with the Mississippi Highway Patrol where I graduated 7th of 36 cadets.

While serving the State of Mississippi as a Trooper, I trained as a Field Training Officer, K-9 Handler, and criminal patrol officer. This gives me a vast amount of experience with criminals including murderers, rapists, fugitives and drug couriers. As a law enforcement officer and parent, I have been actively teaching drug education in our schools and churches.

I believe if we educate our children to make positive choices, we will have better communities.

I was chosen as Ellisville Elementary “Parent of the Year” in 2003.

In 2000, I started my own business, B Clean, LLC which would allow me to provide for my family while actively pursuing the office of Jones County Sheriff.

As required by state law, in 2001, I resigned my position as State Trooper to begin the long hard road of becoming your Sheriff. In 2003, I ran a very respectful campaign coming up just short in the general election.

I have gained valuable business experience by surrounding myself with great managers to carry out the day to day operations at B Clean. I rejoined the MHP to further my law enforcement experience and served the State of Mississippi honorably until February 28, 2007 when it was time for me to qualify to run for Sheriff.

All if this together gives me 20 years of law enforcement and business experience.

I have served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Glade Baptist Church since 1997.
