Retiring postal workers will be sadly missed

To the editor:

When I saw the faces of my friends Butch and Jan on the front page of the paper this morning I wanted to put a large, boldface "NO!" between them. I am so sad to see they are retiring. I visit Choctaw Station frequently to mail packages to my internet customers and have so enjoyed doing business at this location. Often they are asking an elderly customer how a spouse is getting on ... or relating a quick story about a childhood friend.

If you ask Butch how he's doing, his frequent reply is: "He let me get up this morning!"

Both Jan and Butch are friendly, helpful and a lot of fun. To quote an article by Tony Campolo: "Will you leave behind just a newspaper column telling people how important you were, or will you leave crying people who give testimonies of how they've lost the best friend they ever had? ...Titles are good things to have. But if it ever comes down to a choice between a title or a testimony -- go for the testimony."

Both Butch and Jan go above and beyond in helping their customers. They are examples of government employees who really care and want to do the best job possible. I will miss them as I know many others will!

And that is a TESTIMONY to two great people!
