Where’s the $3.8M infrastructure money?

Letter to the editor:

As a citizen of Laurel, I am very concerned about the untrue statements made to us by our political leaders about the money being on the way to fix our infrastructure. The water lines, manholes and sewer lines in this city are deplorable.

As outlined in the Laurel Leader-Call, Sept. 27, 2008, “Funds on the way for infrastructure,” our city leaders used tax payers money to go to Washington D.C. to request funding to fix our infrastructure. Please pay attention, September 2009 has come and gone and we still do not have any funds.

I have only one question, Ms Benson, Councilman Jones, Randy Meador, Patrick Sullivan, Sen. Roger Wicker, Chip Pickering and Mississippi Development Authority, “Where is our $3.8 million that was supposedly on the way for our infrastructure?”

You see, the status of Laurel’s infrastructure was only the concerns of our city leaders for several months. It has been a public concern for many, many years, especially Ward 7.
