Sears club meeting

The Sears Retiree Club of Laurel will meet for lunch Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Country Fisherman on 16th. Ave. Laurel. We are looking for all former employees to join us for lots of good food and fellowship.You will need to pay for your Christmas Banquet at the October meeting.

Lowe family reunion

Thomas J. Lowe family reunion will be Oct. 11, at Shady Grove First Baptist Church, Hwy. 15 North in Laurel. The family will gather for the noon meal around 11 a.m. Bring your favorite foods to share with everyone.

Smith Co. voting

The Smith County Voter’s League will host a political rally at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Cherry Grove Community Center in Taylorsville. Forestry meeting

The Jones County Forestry Association will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the JCJC cafeteria in Ellisville. Ricky Ruffin, an attorney in Jasper County, will be the guest speaker. Mr. Ruffin has had experience dealing with property rights issues. You may call the Jones County Extension Service at 601-428-5201 by 5 p.m. Oct. 8 to register for this annual meeting. Annual dues are $15 and new members are encouraged to attend.

Retired educators meeting

Retired Education Personnel of Jones County will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Gardiner School. Jimmy Bunch, training chief at Laurel Fire Department will speak on fire prevention. Marva Posey of WAML radio will discuss health issues. This organization welcomes all retired education personnel and anyone who was associated with education.
