Downtown walking
Laurel Express and Blue Cross/Blue Shield present: “Let’s Go Walkin’ Down Main Street.” On Saturday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m., the Laurel Main Street program invites you to walk with us thru our downtown streets. We’ll be walking at the same time as dozens of other Main Street communities throughout the state to promote good health. Laurel Mayor Melvin Mack will kick off the walk at the steps of City Hall at 9 a.m. Not a marathon, not a race, just a chance to prove that the fattest state in the union can change its ways, one step at a time. For details, call 601.433.3255 or email laurelexpress@gmail.com.
American Legion
The American Legion, Richard A. Ware Post #71 will meet October 9 at 6 p.m. at Bayless Restaurant in Bay Springs. All American Legion members are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will have CSM Ron Read with the Mississippi Army National Guard speak to us. If you have not paid your dues please do so; our goal is to be 100 percent by Dec. 1.
