LRMA exhibitions

The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art is hosting the following exhibitions: Through Aug. 31, David Hayes: Sculpture, LRMA grounds; through Sept. 24, Peoples of the Plateau: The Indian Photographs of Lee Moorhouse, 1898-1915, Lower Level Galleries; and Aug. 8 - Sept. 21, American Masters of the Gulf Coast: George Ohr, Dusti Bonge’, Walter Anderson, and Richmond Barthe’, Stairwell Gallery. The musuem is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. and Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. No admission, but donations are accepted.

NEJ band boosters

The Northeast Jones Band will be having their booster club meeting Tuesday Aug. 12th at 6 p.m. This meeting will be an open house to meet the band directors and fellow band parents as well as discuss this year’s band schedule and events. We will be discussing topics that parents should be aware of, including this years change in our uniforms. We are in need of several band parents to come along and share in the fun and excitement of this year’s events and to also help the children during the events and throughout the year as needed. Come join us in making this a wonderful year for your child to remember.

Neighborhood watch meeting

A neighborhood watch meeting in Sandersville is planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Sandersville City Hall. Guest speaker will be ECO Director Don McKinnon.

Democratic party meeting

The Jones County Democratic Party will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 12 at the Jones County Circuit Courthouse in Laurel. We will discuss registering new voters at this meeting. All Democrats are invited and encouraged to attend.

Blood drive

There will be a community blood drive, sponsored by Holston Real Estate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, in the Bloodmobile at Holston Real Estate, located at 504 Hill Street in Ellisville. Every donor will receive a free t-shirt and cholesterol check with each donation. All donors will be registered into a weekly drawing for a $100 gas gift card.
