Glade Green Hornet reunion

The Glade High School Class of 1958 cordially invites the graduates from those classes that graduated ahead of us and after to a reception in the Glade Elem. School rotunda Friday, May 9, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. The class also invites teachers and friends. For more information, call 601-649-4972. This is part of the Glade Green Hornet Class of 1958 Class Reunion.

Gilmore benefit

There will be a benefit for Silas “Leon” Gilmore Saturday, May 3 on Highway 11 North, at the corner of Dot Satcher’s Grocery. There will be a rummage sale beginning at 7:30 a.m. There will be a fish fry, barbeque, rib plates and chicken plates.

Canasta group

The Newcomers Club will begin a Canasta card group to meet on the third Monday at 1 p.m. at the YWCO. The first meeting will be in May. Anyone interested should call one of the following numbers: 601-729-3365 or 601-477-9889.

Disabled American Veterans

The Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 59, will hold its monthly meeting at the Veterans Memorial Museum on Hillcrest Drive in Laurel at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5. All disabled veterans are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 601-426-6886.

NAACP to meet

The Laurel-Jones County Branch of the NAACP will have its regular monthly meeting May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Voting Precinct on Cooks Avenue. All members are asked the attend.
