Shirley Carter and Robert Conner of Laurel announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirmeca, to Roy Lee Jackson of McComb, son of the late Rosa Ray and Roy Swington.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Minnie Jones of Laurel and the late Lemmie Jones and the late Katherine Conner. She is a 1999 graduate of Laurel High School and is attending classes at Jones County Junior College in the Business and Marketing Management with Graduation in May 2009. She is currently store manager of the New Factory Connection in the North Laurel Shopping Center.

The future groom is the grandson of Nina Mae Jackson of McComb and the late John Jackson. He is a 1986 graduate of McComb High School. He is employed offshore.

Wedding vows will be exchanged at 1 p.m. Dec. 25, 2008, in McComb, in a private ceremony for close family and friends.
