JCJC Engineering and Science clubs lend a helping hand building houses for Habitat for Humanity. JCJC Science and Engineering Club help Habitat for Humanity

About 50 JCJC Science and Engineering Club members and faculty helped Habitat for Humanity in Hattiesburg build houses Saturday, Sept. 15 at 14 and 18 Annie Christie Road.

Matthew Burnham Ph.D., JCJC Science Club sponsor said, “Since volunteers are always needed at Habitat for Humanity, the JCJC Science and Engineering Clubs have decided to help them as one of our many community service projects.”

The Science Club sponsors are Dr. Matthew Burnham and Dr. Joan Weatherford, and the Engineering Club sponsor is Mary Boleware.

The Hattiesburg Area Habitat for Humanity has been helping low-income families build and own their own homes since 1990.

Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors, Hattiesburg Area Habitat works in partnership with low-income families to build affordable, decent housing in Portions of Covington, Forrest, Jones, Lamar and Perry counties.

They are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

Also, Habitat is a non-profit organization committed to assisting families in need with the life-changing opportunity of buying simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with a team of enthusiastic volunteers and staff guided by Christian values.
