Taste of Home cooking event fun for all

The Leader-Call is sponsoring a Taste of Home Cooking School Tuesday, April 7th at the Magnolia Center. If you have never heard of or attended one of these shows, you are in for a treat.
Michelle Roberts, culinary specialist, will cook several recipes from their cookbook that evening, and at the end of the show will give them away to someone in the audience.
I first heard of Taste of Home about 10 years ago in Coffeyville, Kan. I decided to sponsor one, and had no idea the amount of work it takes to plan. When our Advertising Director Tammy Broome came to me and wanted to have one, I warned her about the amount of time it takes to plan, but said it was a fun night for everyone that came, so I agreed. Tammy has since transferred to one of our sister papers in Texas, and left all of the work to us! I was always told to learn to delegate more so I promptly turned everything over to ad rep Allison Evans, and she has done a good job of getting everything organized for this event.
Every person that attends receives a goody bag full of all sorts of things including a cookbook so that you can follow along with Michelle while she prepares some of the recipes. There will be lots door prizes other than the food at the end of the show. There will also be vendor booths to visit before the show.
I take the Taste of Home cookbook, and have found lots of recipes that I use over and over, so if you decide you would like to attend, we still have tickets available. Just come by our office at 130 Beacon Street and we’ll fix you up with some tickets. They’re just $7 a piece.
I would like to give a special thanks to our main sponsors Lowes who is allowing us to use a refrigerator, a couple of ranges, and a microwave; City Home Center for dressing up our stage as a dining room atmosphere; Anthony’s Florist for donating plants for the stage; and last but not least to Allison Knotts of B-95 for agreeing to act as emcee the night of the show. Without all of our sponsors we would not have been able to pull this event off.
Hope to see you April 7th!
